The ruggedly beautiful Costa Brava holiday coast stretches for 100 miles (160km) along the shores of Catalonia in Spain’s north-eastern corner, from Port Bou on the Franco-Spanish border to Tossa del Mar, just north of Barcelona. The coast is filled with high-rise resort developments and modern marinas catering to package tourists, but retains enough green hillsides and lonely, wild cliffs, coves and caves to belie its reputation as one of Europe’s busiest holiday destinations. However, this stretch of attractive, craggy coastline that has managed to preserve its natural exquisiteness whilst at the same time catering for torrent of tourists who come on vacation to sample its delights. In between lively modern resorts lie conventional fishing villages and abundant attractive inlets to explore, whilst inland lies the medieval Moorish monopoly of Girona. Its natural magnificence, everlasting miles of sandy beaches and summer sunbeams has made it an evident target for the tour operators.

When to go

Aqua Diver is situated in the resort of Playa de Aro and offers all the usual waterslides, river rapids, Splash Mountain, wave swimming pools, kamikaze and many more. The waterpark is open from 10am during the months of June, July, August & September.

L’Aquàrium de Barcelona is the most important marine leisure and education centre in the world concerning the Mediterranean.
